Building Design | EHEDG Working Group Update

On 14th of January, the EHEDG Building Design Working Group came together for a productive face-to-face meeting. During this session, the sub-groups of the Building Design Working Group (Philosophy and Design Prerequisites, Mitigating Hazards by Hygienic Design Principles, External and Internal Building Elements, Services, and Managing Building Activities) shared updates on their progress.

One of the key highlights of the meeting was a significant milestone achieved by the “Managing Building Activities” sub-group. Together, members collaborated to finalize the draft of a crucial section focusing on managing building work and equipment installation or removal during food production. This draft will soon be published as part of EHEDG Guideline 44: Hygienic Design Principles for Food Factories, Part 2.

This accomplishment represents a major step forward in supporting the food industry with practical guidance for maintaining hygiene during construction and equipment-related activities.

We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to this successful meeting. We’re excited about the next steps and look forward to reuniting at the next Working Group meeting on June 17, 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue working towards advancing hygienic design in food factory environments.
