The EYE (EHEDG & Young EFFoST) Mentorship Programme
Young EFFoST in cooperation with EHEDG are proud to announce our new EYE Mentorship Programme. Together, we WANT YOU to apply and be part of the Mentorship Programme.
The mentorship programme pairs young professionals with experts in the field of food science and technology. In the programme, the mentee and mentor will meet regularly and work together on several topics according to their needs and preferences. One can either focus on personal development or professional growth. Intertwined with the meetings, Young EFFoST will organise events in order to deepen the connections and to create networking opportunities.

How did your mentor help you shape your academic and professional journey?
After our first talks, I realised I needed to focus fully on my PhD instead of trying to do everything at once. Lilia’s advice helped me make that decision. It changed how I approach my work and made my journey much more fulfilling.

What motivated you to join the EYE Mentorship Programme?
I joined because I was seeking opportunities to expand my professional network and meet people with different backgrounds and expertise. I wanted to engage in discussions about my career and see how I can further develop myself — both professionally and personally.

How has this experience influenced your perspective as an educator?
Through mentorship, you learn about how people think, the situations they are in and the decisions they have to make. It’s a process where you also grow as a mentor, gaining new experiences that help you improve. I think it's a unique kind of work — relaxing, in a way — and I would absolutely recommend it to others.

What motivated you to join the EYE Mentorship Programme?
I first learned about the mentorship programme through a colleague at EHEDG, and after exploring it further, I realised it mirrored my own experience. It felt like a golden ticket to share my experiences and provide guidance to young professionals on a similar journey.

What goals have you set with your mentee?
My mentee is looking for new opportunities, and the main goal is to create an attractive package with a personal letter, CV and information on social media such as LinkedIn. My objective as her mentor is to help her build a strong CV, develop her professional presence and showcase her skills.
