GHI World Congress 2025 - EHEDG Involvement
We are excited to be a Silver sponsor for the 2nd World Congress of the Global Harmonization Initiative (GHI), taking place from 25-27 June 2025 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Both in-person and online participation options are available.
This event serves as a vital platform for tackling some of the most urgent challenges in food security, safety, health, and sustainability. It will bring together scientists, policymakers, regulators, and industry experts to discuss science-based solutions aimed at creating a safer, healthier, and more sustainable global food system.
EHEDG’s Commitment to a Safer Food Future
EHEDG’s mission is to advance hygienic design in order to improve food safety, quality, and sustainability across the global food supply chain. As part of our commitment, we are hosting an important pre-conference workshop:
EHEDG Preconference Workshop: “Optimizing Food Production: Hygienic Design for Safety and Efficiency”
Date: June 24, 2025
Time: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Free for 3-day delegates (limited places, registration required; no streaming option)
This workshop will explore the critical role of hygienic design in optimizing food production. With contamination risks posing significant threats to food safety, the workshop will focus on how improved engineering solutions can enhance compliance, efficiency, and overall product quality. EHEDG’s guidelines, training, and certification programmes support industry professionals in implementing hygienic solutions that improve food safety, productivity, and sustainability.
Hygienic design is essential for preventing contamination, reducing waste, and improving efficiency throughout food production. EHEDG aims to create a world where hygienic engineering principles are universally applied, minimising contamination risks and ensuring safe food production.
Why GHI?
The Global Harmonization Initiative (GHI) is an independent, international organisation dedicated to harmonising food regulations worldwide, leveraging the latest scientific advancements. Food safety and sustainability are global challenges that require unified, global solutions, yet inconsistent regulations often create barriers to progress.
As Diana Bogueva, Ph.D. (President of GHI), states, “The global food system is at a crossroads. With rising disparities in access to safe and nutritious food, the challenges ahead are as complex as they are urgent. The issues at stake extend beyond hunger. Unaffordable healthy diets are fueling malnutrition, while unsustainable agricultural practices threaten biodiversity, water resources, and climate stability.”
GHI promotes collaboration between scientists, policymakers, and industry leaders to bridge the gap between science and regulation. This ensures that food laws not only protect public health but also foster innovation and efficiency within the food industry.
Why This Congress Matters
A resilient global food system is essential for future generations. Rising hunger, unsustainable food production, and environmental degradation demand urgent action through science-backed policies, improved food safety standards, and sustainable practices. The 2nd GHI Congress provides a unique opportunity to shape the future of food systems through discussions, debates, and collaborative problem-solving.
Bogueva explains, “The GHI Congress will serve as a crucial forum for knowledge-sharing and collaboration. By bringing together experts from diverse disciplines, the event aims to bridge gaps in policy, research, and industry practices to build a more secure, sustainable, and equitable food future.”
Attendees will play a key role in driving solutions that benefit not only the current food industry but also the generations to come.
